In the seemingly never-ending searching for good health benefits, now you have to wonder how to apply for Obamacare as well. First things first… you need to find your state’s health insurance marketplace, sign up and then enroll during an open enrollment period. The deadline for the initial enrollment was March 31st. Those enrolled by then won’t have to worry about suffering the tax penalty for each month they went without insurance.
If you were one of the many that missed the deadline, and now have to wonder how to apply for Obamacare, no need to worry. There will be another enrollment period starting November 15th, 2014. Before you get started shopping around, there may be a few things you want to know.

• Anyone can sign-up for the marketplace. However, if you have access through your employer or qualify for Medicaid, Medicare or CHIP or make 400% over the Federal Poverty Level you will not be eligible for cost assistance tax credits, or lower premiums.
•During an open enrollment you shop for and change your health insurance. Once the enrollment closes you will not be able to buy or change your plan.
• Any Marketplace insurance purchased before the 15th of the month will become active the first of the following month after paying your premium.
